The Systems Administrator will install and configure software, hardware, and networks while ensuring the security and efficiency of IT infrastructure across the organization. This role work closely with the IT department to develop and administer appropriate protocol and policy; as well as deliver IT strategies as deemed by senior management

Reports to: IT Manager or designate.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

General Duties:

  • Maintain a good working relationships with all co-workers and ECCO employees
  • Read and comply with ECCO’s Health and Safety Policies and Procedures
  • Read and comply with ECCO’s Human Resources Policies and Procedures
  • Assist in the success of ECCO’s Safety Program with suggestions and by setting a good example, also by ensuring that safety is at the forefront of your actions while at work

Systems Administrator

  • Manage Windows server systems
    • Design and deploy server hardware, operating systems, and licensing to support current and future user base, including both physical and virtualized (VMware) servers
    • Manage user accounts and permissions
    • Monitor performance, capacity, and health to ensure availability to users
    • Protect user data stored on the servers via local and off-site backups
  • Manage Windows systems
    • Specify and deploy personal computer systems
    • Support end users, hardware, and software as needed
    • Document equipment throughout its lifecycle
    • Sanitize and dispose of retired equipment
  • Manage Data Networks
    • Design, deploy, and support local area networks
    • Design, deploy, and support wireless networks
    • Monitor performance, capacity, and health of LAN systems and internet services to ensure availability for users
    • Coordinate with 3rd party vendors as applicable
  • Technology Purchasing
    • Ensure that technology purchases at ECCO are providing the best value, by determining accurate requirements and finding the solution that provides the lowest TCO that meets those requirements
    • Regularly review ongoing services to ensure they are providing the best value in the market
  • General Technology
    • Manage Office 365 systems and those user accounts (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint etc.)
    • Install and/or configure network devices such as printers and scanners, and general technology devices such as projectors and mobile devices
    • Manage the creation or upgrade of information systems during office renovation and new construction as needed, ranging from high-level coordination of ECCO’s needs with tradespeople down to the physical installation of cabling and equipment.
    • Advance the efficiency of ECCO’s IT systems by staying abreast of current technologies, with a focus on reducing costs and improving user productivity.
    • Create and maintain documentation for critical systems
    • Support the evolving business needs of the company

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diploma in Computer Information Technology or or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Understanding of the following technologies such as, but not limited to:
    • VM management
    • Backup software for physical and virtual Machines
    • Windows Server management
    • Cloud and Hybrid management
  • Hardware component performance and troubleshooting
  • Experience with managed and unmanaged networking solutions
  • Additional experience that would be considered an asset includes:
    • Layer 3 device management
    • Database administration, particularly DB2
    • IBM iSeries experience
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Office 365 and SaaS management
  • Highly organized with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to plan, prioritize and execute tasks in a complex environment
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Valid Driver’s License is a requirement
