ABOUT THE POSITION:

We are looking for a seasoned and results-driven Payroll Manager will lead our payroll operations with precision, technical expertise, and a collaborative spirit. The ideal candidate will have advanced Dayforce knowledge, a comprehensive understanding of payroll regulations, and a proactive approach to resolving challenges. This role requires excellent communication skills, a solutions-oriented mindset, and the ability to thrive in our fast-paced, high-performing office environment.

 

DUTIES:

Dayforce Leadership:

  • Utilize extensive experience with Dayforce, including system setup, configuration, troubleshooting, and optimization.
  • Pull and analyze ad hoc reports from Dayforce to support decision-making and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Oversee Dayforce ticketing processes to ensure timely resolution of system issues and enhancements.

    Payroll Operations Management
  • Lead and oversee end-to-end payroll processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with all applicable federal, provincial and state regulations.
  • Provide expertise on payroll rules, policies, and legislation, with the ability to source answers to complex provincial and state payroll questions as needed.
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve payroll discrepancies and system inefficiencies proactively.
  • Liaise with auditors and manage audits related to payroll taxes, worker’s compensation insurance, and benefits.
  • Manage recurring and ad hoc payroll administrative processes for the organization including provincial and state filings, payroll related payables and journal entries.
  • Maintain accurate records, prepare reports, and ensure compliance with relevant laws and internal policies.

 

Team Collaboration and Communication:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll-related inquiries, effectively communicating with employees, leadership, and external partners.
  • Collaborate with HR, Finance, and other departments to ensure seamless payroll integration and operations.
  • Train and mentor team members on payroll best practices and system usage as needed.

ABOUT THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

  • CPM certification preferred, but not required
  • 5+ years of proven experience as a Payroll Manager or in a similar leadership role and advanced proficiency in Dayforce
  • Experience with both Canadian & US payroll requirements
  • Knowledge of WCB, L&I and other government remittances
  • Strong knowledge of federal, provincial and state payroll regulations, with the ability to source and interpret complex compliance requirements.
  • Exceptional analytical and troubleshooting skills, with a focus on identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate technical details into clear, actionable information.
  • A proactive, professional work ethic that thrives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and work collaboratively within a results-oriented team.
  • A working knowledge of moderately complex payroll tax-related issues.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and capable of managing multiple priorities and projects.
